Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

waterfall boxer2

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are
meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and
sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy
and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hannah
Farewell Bridge My tired body was showing its wear, As I slowly hobbled up the stairs. Under my rump your hand you'd place Climbing the stairs with a little more grace. My dragging paws caused nails to bleed You bought me booties-such a kind deed! No more days of jumping on your bed The floor brought more comfort to me instead. And the increasing accidents in the house The loss of control made me feel like a louse. For even though my mind still keen Better times this furry body had seen. Gone were the days of youthful mobility Replaced instead with waning dignity. From you my distress I could not hide A witness to my diminishing pride. The gloom was there; we both could tell Within out sight was the Bridge of Farewell. With cloudy eyes I gave you my plea Muster the courage, would you do this for me? This body now aching for my spirit to be freed Be not burdoned with guilt for this kind of deed. Although the time has come, say not goodbye For my spirit will soar back down from the sky. From there like a magnet it will come along To dwell where my body once made its home. Although my body must leave, say not goodbye For my spirit in this home will remain alive. And as long as you shall think me there My spirit and you shall remain ever near! By Judy Schulte

Rubin fka Alvin
Little Rubin was one of Allaynas babies. Allayna and her pups came to us when they babies were around three weeks old. Rubin was adopted at 9 weeks old to a wonderful person. At 13 weeks of age little Rubin tragically died of mesenteric torsion. The exact reason is a mystery. We will all miss Rubin, but especially his loving "mom" Darlene.

Molly
Molly was a sweet baby girl. I say she was a baby because she was my baby. Molly was actually a very old dog when my parents and I adopted her. She was as sweet as can be. A couple weeks after we got her, she latched herself on to me. I began to love her, as I said before, like my baby. On June 2, 2008 I came home to a very sad situation. Molly had died. She died in her sleep due to a heart attack. There was no indication that she was sick. That’s what really made it hard, but she will always remain in my heart no matter how many dogs I get. She was my baby.

Boss
Boss was a sweet boy of about 7 years old when he was adopted by a loving family. He seemed healthy right up to the end. Sadly, Boss died suddenly after only about 9 months in his home. Boss was a loved member of the family and will be missed.

Harley
Harley was adopted from a shelter by one of our volunteers. For a month he had a happy and loving family life. Then they took him for his neuter and from there things went bad fast. Harley went into renal failure immediatly after his surgery and died within just a few days, despite the best efforts of his family and veterinarian. Harley's family is broken hearted over the loss of such a wonderful boy and he will never be forgotten.
