Description:A Note From Loni's New Family to all of her supporters
Message From: allan and cheri February 18, 2007
We are so happy to have been able to adopt Loni from the rescue. We would like to thank everyone who donated to help save her life. We are so excited to continue to give her the life she deserves. You have a wonderful organaization, keep up the great work!!
Even though it will be about a month or so before Loni is ready to go home, we are takeing applications for her now. Keep in mind, we do not adopt on a first come/first served basis. We look for the best possible match to each dogs personality.
Loni came to a shelter as a terribly thin stray girl. She only weighs 38lbs and needs to put on between 20 and 25 more to be healthy.
Loni will be getting blood tests on November 21 to make sure that she has no lasting health issues from her starvation.
She is safe with rescue and has been bathed, rid of parasites, had her nails clipped and is resting comfortably now.
Thank you to all who are supporting our efforts with Loni.
We will keep this page updated with the current information on Loni, complete with new pics about once a week.
UPDATE-November 20, 2006
I just got back from the veterinarian's office with Loni. He says she is about 18 months old and in pretty darn good health for her condition. Loni won the hearts of everyone there. She is quite charming She has already gained weight since the shelter weighed her. She weighs 39.5 lbs now
UPDATE-November 28, 2006
Loni was back at the vets for a weigh in and check up. She is up to 45.3 lbs now! The vet said her progress is wonderful!
UPDATE December 9, 2006
Loni now weighs 49.8 lbs and is looking very good. Another 10 lbs and she will be right where she needs to be.
Loni was finally well enough to be spayed and had her surgery yesterday. She is resting comfortably in her foster home while she recovers from surgery.
UPDATE-December 18,2006
Loni weighed in at 51.8 lbs!
Over the weekend Loni vomited something that looked like a part of a leather handle from something. She was acting ok but her foster mom was concerned so Loni went to the veterinarian today to get an x ray. What the doctor found was more, LOTS MORE, inside of her stomach and intestines.
Loni is currently at the veterinarians office, waiting to have surgery to remove all of the foreign objects inside of her.
We will update everyone as soon as we have word of how she is doing
UPDATE-December 19,2006
I just got the call that Loni is out of surgery and she had a real mess inside her. Her surgery took 2 and 1/2 hours to complete. I am VERY GLAD that she vomited the leather. She would have died from all of the items inside of her.
The Vet said they found leather straps, purse parts, hair ties, toys, collars, leashes, and more, inside her stomach and intestines.
She has been collecting stuff for quite some time apparently.
She will be fine but will have a recovery time of a couple of weeks at least
